Our History

The idea of creating a scholarship was presented by Joanne Davis, a dear friend of the family, and was accepted with enthusiasm by the family during the most difficult time of their lives.  It allowed them to concentrate on helping others rather than on their enormous grief.

More than just a scholarship fund, SNWMS, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering teens and helping young adults reach their full potential by providing scholarship assistance, workshops in financial literacy, building self-esteem, and developing leadership skills.

Our initiatives for Shawna Nicole Williams Memorial Inc. has been supported by our community through donor financial support and volunteerism.  On June 19, 2008, the Department of the Treasury approved Shawna Nicole Williams Memorial, Inc. as a 501(c) (3) organization.
